(Riverton, WY) – The annual 1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous kicked off with the official opening ceremony Wednesday night. The festivities will go through July 6.
The Lander Pipe Band, which also played a medley that they will perform at the 2025 World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland, led the group of mountain men and women, all dressed in era-appropriate attire as they carried the flags.
After the flags were placed, the Rendezvous Booshway, “Dropcloth,” and Segundo, “Frankie,” addressed the crowd, getting them pumped up for the 2025 activities.
Dropcloth shared with the crowd that the tin roof added to the dining building this year was donated by Amish members of the Rendezvous community and was constructed by volunteers. The news was punctuated by cannon fire in the distance.
