(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, March 17, will be mostly sunny during the day, with southwest winds increasing to gusts up to 45 mph.
These winds are in response to an approaching Pacific trough making landfall today, Lipson explained, and once this trough advances to the Great Basin, ample moisture will stream southwest to northeast at the same time as a strong cold front coming from the north. This means rain will turn to snow tonight, with north winds gusting up to 35 mph.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also shared that snow will increase over western Wyoming today, spreading east of the Divide tonight as the cold front passes through. Heavy snow is possible for portions of central Wyoming Tuesday morning.
High temperatures will be in the 50’s for most today, with lows tonight in the upper 20’s and lower 30’s.
