(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, December 9, will be partly sunny and very windy, with west-northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph, and strong wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph. Southeast Fremont County, including the Jeffrey City area, could see gusts as high as 70 to 85 mph.
These strong winds will drive temperatures into the mild low 50s today, Lipson added, but will have the opposite effect in the mountains to the west, with Togwotee Pass likely picking up three to six inches of snow as the westerly flow provides a favorable upslope flow for that location. Tonight will be mostly cloudy and very windy, with west-northwest winds gusting up to 45 to 50 mph, and another three to six inches of snow could fall on Togwotee Pass for a snow total of six to twelve inches by Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also reported that highs will vary across the 10, with South Pass at 39 degrees, Dubois at 44 degrees, and the rest of the country in he 50s. Lows tonight will be in the 20s.
