Waterfowl season opens in Fremont County (Central Flyaway Zone C1) tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 28th, 2019.
Two Fremont County bodies of water have current Harmful Cyanobacterial Bloom (HCB) advisories:
- Ocean Lake
- Boysen Reservoir
County 10 connected with State Public Health Veterinarian Karl Musgrave about the risks of hunting in bodies of water with HCB advisories.

Karl shared HCB is a definite risk to dogs. Especially if they drink the water. Karl noted a few dogs have died this summer from drinking water with HCB blooms in Wyoming.
Karl explained it does not pose an issue to waterfowl and there is not “much of a risk for humans.” Swimmers who are constantly exposed to and ingesting a lot of affected water could experience issues.
Since the temperature is dropping, blooms should start going away soon, according to Karl.
