(Fremont County, WY) – The Wyoming Bureau of Land Management has shared that as of today, August 12, the Weiser Knoll Fire is 30% contained and burning at 16,351 acres.
Today’s update reports that crews secured containment lines, primarily along WY-28 and the fire’s NW corner, and are focusing on mop-up throughout the fire area, extinguishing or removing burning and smoldering material along the fire edge, and addressing hot spots that could threaten containment lines. Air resources also remain available as needed, including multiple Type 1 helicopters conducting water drops on areas of active heat.
The update includes the following closure and safety information:
- BLM-administered lands within the junction of US-287 and WY-28, including lands east of WY-28 to Beaver Creek and lands south of US-287 to Beaver Creek. Click here for the closure map and further details.
- Twin Creek Rd. closed to public; landowner access only
- WY-28 & US-287 remain open — slow down and yield to fire traffic

- Temporary Flight Restriction in effect — drones are prohibited. If you fly, we can’t.
