(Lander, WY) – Fire crews and responders were called to Westward Heights Care Center in Lander for reports of smoke in the building on Monday afternoon, October 27.
Chief Ron Wempen with the Fremont County Fire Protection District shared with County 10 that the cause “appears to have been a mechanical issue with a rooftop heating system.” As of 3:40 PM, crews have addressed the issue/are clearing the scene, and residents are returning inside.
Westward Heights Administrator Caitlin Delbridge shared the following post on the care center’s Facebook page.
“To our family and friends, we have the fire department here as there was smoke coming from the ceiling. We immediately evacuated. Everyone is safe and accounted for. I will keep posting as more information is available but I want to thank all of the amazing responders!”
