(Wind River Reservation, WY) – A fire on the Wind River Reservation, northwest of Pavillion, grew to about 150 acres Monday evening, according to information posted on the Wach Duty app.
The fire, dubbed the “Wild Horse Flats Fire,” was first reported around 7 PM.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Fremont County Fire Protection District Chief Ron Wempen confirmed with County 10 that as of 9:30 PM, the fire is contained.
“It (was) in the area of Wild Horse Flats, off of the Maverick Springs Road north of Diversion Dam,” Chief Wempen shared.
The fire has since been turned over to BIA Forestry services for monitoring.
