UPDATE: As of 4:18 PM, the fire is now estimated to be between 80 and 100 acres, and the fire has spotted over Flagstaff Road. The public is still asked to stay off the road.
(Teton County, WY) – A wildfire is currently burning at two acres near Sagebrush Flat at the top of Spread Creek on the Blackrock Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, according to a post shared on the U.S. Forest Service-Bridger-Teton National Forest Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, May 13.
“Teton Interagency Fire resources are responding to suppress the Spread Creek Fire burning near Sagebrush Flat at the top of Spread Creek on the Blackrock Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest,” the post states.
“The fire is currently 2-acres in size and actively burning in timber, torching and spotting with the high winds. Rescue 22 helicopter, a wildland fire module, two type 3 engines, a 10-person module from Teton Helitack are currently responding. More resources are being ordered to help with suppression efforts.
The public is asked to stay off Flagstaff Road while firefighting efforts are underway.
