(Fremont County, WY) – 2025 marks the third year of the Margaret Coel Wind River Mystery Book Retreat, held annually at St. Stephen’s Mission. The retreat will take place June 29 through July 3 (click the link above for more details). Margaret Coel is a Colorado native, a New York Times best-selling author, and writer of the acclaimed Wind River mystery series, set on the Wind River Reservation.
Father Andrew Duncan from St. Stephen’s Mission shared with County 10 that in conjunction with the retreat, they are hosting a ‘Margaret Coel Day,’ featuring a concert by Abraham Thomas and Jermaine Bell, who sang alongside Cher and the music group Chicago at the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The concert will take place on July 2, 7 PM, in the Keel Gym at St. Stephen’s Mission (33 St. Stephen’s Rd.), and following their performance, the world-famous Wind River Dancers, led by Darrell Lonebear, will take the stage at 8:30 PM.
Father Duncan also shared that earlier that day, the Intertribal Center at Central Wyoming College (located at 2820 W. Main Street in Riverton) will host a presentation on Native American Ledger Art in conjunction with Margaret’s bestselling book “The Story Teller.” That presentation begins at 1 PM and will be followed by a public meet and greet hosted by Margaret Coel in the Intertribal Center at CWC.
“St. Stephen’s invites the entire Fremont County community to this special event to welcome and honor Margaret Coel,” Father Duncan commented. “It is a great opportunity to see the headline performance of the award-winning Wind River Dancers and the inspirational music of two of Fremont County’s most successful entertainers.”
