(Carbon County, WY) – The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) Facebook page has shared that a Patrol Lieutenant working in Troop P (Carbon County) was struck by a vehicle while tending to a different crash this weekend, on Saturday, February 1.
The initial crash took place on Interstate 80, and while the Lieutenant was inside of his cruiser, he was struck by another vehicle and became trapped, the WHP post informs.
The Lieutenant is “doing well and ready to get back to work,” after being transported and released from the hospital, the WHP shared.
The WHP reminds motorists that the statute states “a vehicle traveling on an interstate shall move into the furthest lane from the emergency vehicle,” and that “when traveling on a two-lane road with a posted speed limit greater than forty-five miles per hour, the car shall slow to twenty miles per hour less than the posted speed limit.”
“For the safety of everyone, please remember to SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER for all stopped emergency and maintenance vehicles.”
