(Statewide) – U.S. Representative (R) Harriet Hageman officially announced her intentions to run for the U.S. Senate yesterday, December 22.
The announcement comes less than a week after Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) made it official that she will not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2026, leaving the Wyoming seat open for Hageman’s campaign.
Hageman, a Wyoming native, has served as Wyoming’s sole congressperson since being elected in 2022, and has spent most of her career as a trial attorney.
“This fight is about making sure the next century sees the advancements of the last while protecting our culture and way of life,” Hageman said in her announcement video.
The announcement has already garnered support from other elected officials in Wyoming, like Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder and Secretary of State Chuck Gray.
“I wholeheartedly endorse Representative Harriet Hageman for United States Senate. Representative Hageman first ran for Congress in a time that we needed someone to represent Wyoming, not their personal interests,” Degenfelder shared. “On day one she brought back representation on the most impactful committee to Wyoming, the House Natural Resource Committee, and fulfilled countless promises to the Wyoming people. Not only has she returned millions of dollars to the people of Wyoming, she has defended our natural resources, parental rights, safety of our roads and more. She is the fighter that we need to defend the conservative movement in this country and in Wyoming.”
The 2026 United States Senate election in Wyoming will be held on November 3, 2026.
