(Ten Sleep, WY) – The 2024 Wyoming Singer-Songwriter competition wrapped up this weekend at the Ten Sleep Brewing Co., and Fremont County was once again well-represented with Lander musician Adam Kirkpatrick taking the number three spot, behind Jackson Holte in second and Marley Holdeman in first.
Kirkpatrick also had the second spot for judge’s favorite song (“Ten Sleep”), the three and four spots for favorite audience songs (“Ten Sleep” and “Bigfoot Lives in Wyoming”), and took number two for overall audience favorite performer.
Fremont County tends to have an eclectic group of musicians showcased at the competition each year, who often walk home with a top three finish, if not the whole shebang. Rob Weiman won 2019, took second in 2021, and third place last year, while Christian Wallowing Bull received first place in 2021.
As for Kirkpatrick, this is the 5th year in a row that he has made it to the finals stage, where he has taken home multiple audience awards, but the first year he made it into the judge’s top three.
“I’m really honored to have done well with the judges this year,” Kirkpatrick told County 10. “This is my first time placing though I have actually made the final stage for 5 years in a row now.”
He also had nothing but kind words for his fellow Fremont County/Lander performers.
“This year I was able to share the stage with Bill Boycott and that’s always special to have multiple Landerites in the finals. Also, Bill was amazing this year and he had what was maybe my favorite song of the whole competition.”
Holdeman, the first place winner, walked home with $5,000, courtesy of Wyoming Whiskey.
