(Fremont County, WY) – The recently issued Air Quality Alert for portions of Fremont County will remain in effect today, October 7, through 1 PM tomorrow, October 8.
The Alert was shared by the National Weather Service in Riverton, on behalf of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division, and the Wyoming Department of Health, and was issued due to smoke from the nearby Pack Trail Fire.
The Alert is for much of central and northern Wyoming, including the cities of: Clark, Cody, Meeteetse, Basin, Greybull, Lovell, Powell, Shell, Thermopolis, Ten Sleep, Worland, Buffalo, Kaycee, Dubois, Riverton, Shoshoni, Lander, and Casper.

HEALTH INFORMATION: The Wyoming Department of Health recommends that the elderly, young children, and individuals with respiratory problems avoid excessive physical exertion and minimize outdoor activities during this time. Wildfire smoke is made up of a variety of pollutants, including particulate matter and ozone, which can cause respiratory health effects. Although these people are most susceptible to health impacts, the Department of Health also advises that everyone should avoid prolonged exposure to poor air quality conditions.
