Celebrate Survivors, Honor Loved Ones, and Fight Breast Cancer 💖
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 16, for the 5th annual Riverton Pink Ribbon Run, hosted at the SageWest Riverton campus by the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI). This family-friendly event kicks off with registration at 7:00 am, followed by a heartwarming Survivor Celebration at 7:30, and the 5K walk/run begins at 8:00 am. Expect fun booths, a children’s zone, and meaningful moments for participants of all ages.
This event is more than just a race—it’s a chance to build team spirit with coworkers, family, and friends while showing meaningful support for those impacted by breast cancer in Wyoming. Proceeds from the run help fund grants through the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative, a volunteer-led nonprofit focused on reducing late-stage diagnoses and providing vital resources to individuals in the fight of their lives. Since 2017, WBCI grants have made a direct difference in communities across the state.
Meet Our Honorary Survivor: John Glenn
This year, we’re proud to spotlight John Glenn, a Fremont County resident, on his incredible five-year journey as a male breast cancer survivor. As a former Forest Service and BLM employee, John lived an active life—until seven years ago, when he discovered a lump and, after initially delaying, received a stage 4 diagnosis that had spread to his lymph nodes.
Following intensive treatment at the University of Utah and support from Rocky Mountain Oncology in Lander, John has been cancer-free for five years. Selected as the event’s Honorary Survivor, he shared his story in a recent County 10 Podcast, emphasizing that men can get breast cancer and urging early detection.
