Riverton Rotary is asking the community to dig into those closets and give gently used shoes a second chance during its Community Shoe Drive on Saturday, September 19, from 10 am to 4 pm at Walmart in Riverton.
Community members can donate gently used shoes for all ages, including athletic and casual shoes, dress shoes, sandals, work and western boots, snow boots and more. Shoes should be clean, wearable, in pairs and in good overall condition.
The donated shoes will travel far beyond Fremont County, helping people in need in developing nations such as Haiti, Botswana, Cambodia and others. By donating a pair that still has plenty of life left, community members can help provide something practical and needed to someone across the globe.
The collection is part of Riverton Rotary’s “Scoot Those Old Boots” fundraiser, which runs through September 30. Donated shoes help Rotary raise funds to support local projects, including park improvements, scholarships, literacy programs, youth leadership initiatives, community cleanups and more.
So, before those unused shoes spend another season gathering dust, put them to work for the community! Stop by Walmart in Riverton from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, September 19, and help Riverton Rotary make a difference, one pair at a time.
