(Wind River Reservation, WY) – According to a post shared on the Eastern Shoshone Tribe Facebook page today, August 22, the Bull Lake Fire (west of Pavillion) is now 85% contained and was transitioned down to a TYPE 4 Incident yesterday.
“The fire’s perimeter remains at 525 acres, and there are no current road or trail closures,” the update informs. “The fire is now 85 percent contained per the National Interagency Fire Center.”
“The ICT4 crew from the Pike-San Isabel will be handing the fire back to the local unit today, August 22. All aviation resources attached to the fire have been released, and the Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) have been lifted. There are still pockets of fuel that continue to burn within the perimeter that currently pose no threat. The Agency maintains IA readiness by using two TYPE 7 trucks with slip-on pump units today. There will be two Type VI engines available along with the pump slip-on units starting Aug. 23.”
The update concludes by stating that although no direct cause has been confirmed, “the fire was likely caused by lightning,” and “the local agency will continue to staff the fire with an Engine and patrol as needed.”
