(Lander, WY) – The Fremont County Commission convened for a regular meeting on Tuesday, March 4, and have shared the following recap of that meeting.
- An agreement for use of economic development tax funds was approved with Countryside Veterinary Service, LLC in the amount of $180,000 for a mobile veterinary unit, equipment, and supplies.
- The annual Juvenile Justice Services of Fremont County agreement was approved with the City of Lander.
- A Wyoming Association of Risk Management final proof of loss for a 2004 Sterling Class 8 truck was approved in the amount of $18,174 less a $5,000 deductible, for a total amount received of $13,275.
- A proclamation was approved titled “Fremont County Semiquincentennial Committee Creation.”
- The board accepted the bid from Olson’s Body Shop in the amount of $4,641.34 for damages to a sheriff’s pickup truck.
- The board accepted the resignation of Samuel Dahnert from the Fremont County Historic Preservation Commission.
- A letter of support was approved to the USDA Rural Passenger Transportation Technical Assistance Program on behalf of the Wind River Transportation Authority.
- The following Fremont County retail liquor licenses were renewed for the license year April 15, 2025, through April 14, 2026: 3 Spear Ranch, Absaroka Ranch, Atlantic City Mercantile, B & K Shoreline Stop, Boysen Marina and Campground, Brooks Lake Lodge, Crooked Creek Guest Ranch, Shoshone Rose Casino & Hotel, The Kinnear Store, Lazy L & B Ranch, The Line Shack, Midvale Station, Miner’s Grubstake, The Canteen, Wind River Hotel & Casino, PMS Fireworks and More, Rock Shop Inn, Split Rock Bar & Café, and theTriangle C Ranch.
- The board accepted the verbal resignation from County and Prosecuting Attorney Patrick LeBrun, effective April 1, 2025.
In regard to the resignation of Patrick LeBrun in the item and story inked above, Fremont County Clerk Julie Freese shared the following additional details:
“(LeBrun’s) official last date is March 31, 2025 (according to what he told the Commissioners). That makes a vacancy on April 1, 2025. We have sent a letter to Ginger Bennett, Chairman of the Fremont County Republican Party to give her a head’s up.
“The process will be: On April 1, 2025, we will email a letter to Ginger Bennett, GOP Chairman and let her know that the County Attorney position is vacant. They have 15 days from the notice of the vacancy to meet as the Fremont County Central Committee to review names and applications of those wishing to be appointed to that office. Once they decide 3 names to submit to the Board of County Commissioners and send that list, the Board of County Commissioners have 5 days to meet and interview the 3 candidates and appoint one of them from the 3 applicants.”
