Lander City Council to hold swearing-in ceremony for new police department corporal during regular meeting Tuesday

(Lander, WY) – The Lander City Council will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the City Council Chambers at 240 Lincoln Street.

The agenda for the meeting includes a public hearing for an ordinance determining the mill levy needed to raise enough money by general tax to meet the current expenses of the city for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The council will consider the ordinance on first reading later in the meeting.

After hearing communication from the floor, mayor and council updates, and staff reports, the council will consider accepting the resignation of Councilmember Missy White, who was named Mayor Pro Tempore (temporary Mayor) last month following the unexpected death of Mayor Monte Richardson.

“Were it not for the untimely passing of Mayor Richardson, I would have gladly finished the remainder of (my city council) term,” White wrote in her resignation letter. “Being nominated and voted on by the Council to serve the remainder of Mayor Richardson’s term is an honor. I look forward to working with the Council in this new capacity to continue serving the residents of this wonderful town.”

The agenda indicates that White will take the oath of office as Mayor after the council holds a swearing-in ceremony for a new Lander Police Department Corporal.

Under old business, the council will consider approving a second-reading ordinance granting a franchise agreement to Centurylink to operate and maintain a telecommunications system in Lander. 

New business action items on the agenda include:

• authorize Mayor White as a signatory on all City of Lander accounts
• adopt updated Housing Authority bylaws
• authorize the mayor to sign an updated agreement with the Lander Economic Development Association
• authorize the mayor to sign a $71,400 contract for design and bidding services for the Popo Agie River Park Entrance Development Project
• authorize the mayor to sign a confidential document destruction agreement
• approve and authorize the mayor to sign a sanitary sewer agreement with the Wyoming Life Resource Center
• authorize the mayor to issue a notice to proceed for Bishop Randall Water and Paving Improvements
• authorize the mayor to sign an engagement letter for land appraisal for a Popo Agie River Park Jefferson Street grant
• authorize the mayor to sign a subscription service agreement for Hunt Field Airport

An executive session will be held regarding litigation before adjournment.
