(Lander, WY) – 33-year-old Lander man Michael Odom, who faces multiple charges for his reported role in a drunk-driving crash on June 17 in Riverton that resulted in the deaths of Taylee Dresser and Gregory Trosper, pled “not guilty” at his arraignment hearing held today, July 28, in Lander’s District Court.
The hearing was presided over by the Honorable Judge Kate McKay, with James Weck representing the State and Zachary Mahlum acting as Defense counsel.
Odom was originally charged with two counts of felony aggravated homicide by vehicle (DUI) – with the alternative charge of aggravated homicide by vehicle (reckless conduct) for both counts – misdemeanor driving or having control of a vehicle while under the influence (DWUI, third offense), and reckless driving. An amended information document filed on June 26 indicates that the DWUI and reckless driving charges were dropped.
A specific jury trial date was not scheduled at today’s hearing, but Judge McKay stated that it should be set “sometime in October or November.”
Felony aggravated homicide by vehicle (DUI) and felony aggravated homicide by vehicle (reckless conduct) hold maximum punishments of 20 years imprisonment. Misdemeanor interference with a peace officer carries a maximum sentence of one year imprisonment and a $1,000 fine.
