(Lander, WY) – Following Fremont County School District (FCSD) #1 school board member Scott Jensen’s resignation announcement last month and the subsequent call for candidates, the board convened Tuesday night to narrow the applicant pool down to five individuals.
“Following a thorough and deliberative review process that included an evaluation of applications, qualifications, and community priorities, the Board selected the following individuals as finalists: Sarah M. Adams, Matt Ayers, Jeff Chapin, Daryl Michael, and Breanne Weston,” the Board shared in a press release.
“The Board extends its sincere appreciation to all community members who expressed an interest in serving. Selecting finalists was not an easy task, as the pool of applicants reflected a strong commitment to public education and to the students and families of Fremont #1.”
The release goes on to state that the Board will interview each finalist at the February 17 regular meeting, which is open to the public. Following deliberation in an executive session, the Board will then publicly vote to appoint one of the five finalists, and Board Chair Taylor Jacobs will provide further details about the selection and voting process.
The candidate who is selected and appointed will then serve through this year’s school board election cycle and will be “expected to uphold the Board’s commitment to academic excellence, student well-being, fiscal responsibility, and transparent governance.”
