(Lander, WY) – As of May 30, Forest Service Road 300, known locally as “the Loop Road” or “Louie Lake Road,” is partially open, according to a recent post from the USDA Forest Service – Shoshone National Forest Facebook page.
“We’re excited to share that the FSR 300 also known as the Louis Lake or Loop Road, is open past Worthen Meadows to the Burnt Gulch Gate,” the post states.
Earlier this week, County 10 shared that the road was still closed for the 2025 season due to snow drifts, which today’s update informs is the reason why the road remains partially closed.
“The rest of the road remains closed due to snow drifts and muddy conditions. It will likely be a couple more weeks before the full length of the Loop Road is open to the public.”
Starting next week, on June 2, the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest’s hours will change to 12:30 to 4:30 PM (M-F). To learn more about the Loop Road, click here.
