(Riverton, WY) – Ranch Hands Outpost, a new western and equine supply store, opened its doors Saturday morning at 925 S. Federal Blvd. in Riverton with a ribbon-cutting hosted by Riverton’s Chamber of Commerce.
Co-owners Becky Brazil and Desiree Cooper said the store fills a gap that has existed in Riverton for years. Cooper’s husband’s uncle owned Western Supply on Main Street, which closed about seven years ago. Since then, locals looking for quality tack, saddles, and equine gear have had to drive to Worland, Thermopolis or Casper to find what they need or, to order online and hope for the best, Cooper said.
“A lot of things that we have are handmade, more quality, more time put into it,” Brazil said. “Being able to come in and touch the things you’re looking for before you buy is important, too.”
The shop carries saddles, headstalls, leather goods, bits, reins, hardware, and other equine supplies, with an emphasis on quality over big-box alternatives. Brazil and Cooper said they also plan to carry work from local artisans, including a craftsman from Thermopolis who makes mohair cinches.
Both owners bring years of experience to the venture. Brazil comes from a ranching background and Cooper’s family from the rodeo world. They said the combination of knowledge under one roof should help customers find what they need and get good advice along the way.
The store will also support local youth in 4-H and FFA programs and has already sponsored events at Central Wyoming College, including the college rodeo.
Brazil and Cooper said they plan to host clinics for adults and kids starting in June. Details will be posted on the store’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pages.
“We just want to be able to keep everybody going, doing the things that Fremont County loves,” Cooper said. “That’s what brings our community together.”
